Using Web File Explorer to Transfer Files too Big to Send via E-mail
Files are most often exchanged between Outreach partners via e-mail. However, there are often times where a file or files may be too big to send using this method. In the past, anonymous FTP was used. However, this was removed due to inherent security problems with anonymous FTP. To address this, OIS has set up a product called Web File Explorer to address this need. This guide is split into five sections: Introduction, Creating a Directory, Adding a File, Downloading a File, and Deleting a File or Folder. If you have any additional questions or require additional assistance using Web File Explorer, please direct them to ois@exchange.vt.edu.
Introduction
For those in outreach with access to N:, you can still add and remove files and directories to the filetransfers folder just like you normally have.

You should now see a screen like the one below. Click the “Browse…” button next to one of the file blanks. You will get a dialog box that will allow you to select the file you want to upload. Note that you can select up to three files to upload at the same time. Once you have selected the file(s), click the “Upload” button. Your files will begin to transfer.

When the transfer is complete, you will receive the following message:
