Terminal Server Usage

Connecting to the OIA Terminal Server

(Typically for connecting to the OPD Database/Continuity from a Remote Location)

Before attempting to use this system, check with Outreach Information Services to ensure that you have been set up to connect to the remote server. To connect to the remote system, you will need to:

  1. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Remote Desktop Connection
  2. Enter 198.82.173.43 into the “Computer” blank and click Connect
  3. Enter in your login ID and password (this will be the same as what you use to log on to your computer or the one issued to you by OIS)

When you are finished with your work, be sure to log out the same as if you were logging of of your own machine. Only five terminal sessions can be active at the same time. If one hits the "X" instead of logging off, that connection is still in use.

For OPD Database/Continuity Users

At this point, OPD Users should be ready to go. If you are a continuity user and this is the first time you have connected to use Continuity, you will have a few additional steps:

  1. you will need to create a Continuity icon on your desktop. Go to My Computer -> D: -> Program Files -> Continuity Spectrum. Press and hold the Ctrl and Shift keys and drag the c2k program (it will have a blue “P” icon) to your desktop (do not let go of Ctrl and Shift until you have released the left mouse button). This will create an icon on your desktop called “Shortcut to c2k (you can rename this icon if you want).
  2. Double click the Continuity shortcut you just created. Check the box “Use Integrated Security”. Click the “Show Advanced” button. Enter in a Server Name of “198.82.173.181” and a database of “c2k_Prod”. Click OK and you can proceed to use Continuity.

You will only need to do steps 4 and 5 the first time you use the system.

WARNING: If you connect to the system and are idle for more than an hour, your connection will be disconnected and any unsaved changes will be lost!
